Being wrongfully accused of domestic violence happens more often that the average person may think.  In many ways these accusations can be used as leverage in a divorce to gain more control over assets or custody of the children.   Spousal abuse tends to come down to a he said, she said account of the situation.  Even if the person accused of the violent act is not convicted, the circumstances may sway a judge’s opinion.

A person may falsely accuse another of domestic violence in Los Angeles to get back at them for another act.  They may be upset that the person cheated or isn’t paying them any attention.  In some cases the accuser may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which can distort their judgment when making the decision to call the police.

Spousal abuse, child abuse and other forms of domestic violence need to be handled professionally.  False claims are out there and the people who are accused of a crime they didn’t commit need to be protected.
